These maps aren’t yet complete!

There wasn’t meant to be custom content yet!

Ok so i had told myself that the sewers, the town, the signs, the roads and anything that isn’t the radio station would not be receiving custom content in any way but these are trying times for us all at the moment and i had the idea to add this to the map (eventually more than just this one location) and i just wanted to show appreciation to those in the NHS and all keyworkers everywhere during the conflict with it of which won’t be named.

It is somewhat a small video, but the point gets across…

The map will be based on..

Ok it’s been long enough now and i feel like you guys should know what i am planning for this new map. I’ve had the idea for it for a while now but told myself that i wouldn’t start it until the Basildon Hospital map was complete thus forcing me to finish off the problematic map where it it wouldnt let my creative ideas flow.

With most of the maps i make i try to add in little easter eggs or other elements that may try to play towards realism, such as the Ode to Robert Cram in LilVenicia as i knew he was going to review the map before it was completed, or simply having the ability to switch on or off lights using a junction/power box.

This time around i had decided to be a little more adventurous and base it around a radio station. The rebels would break into the radio station while they were broadcasting and the radio host would/will react to certain conditions based on whichever gamemode you happen to be playing. the only prerequisite was that the rebels MUST start in a sewer system which has multiple exits/entrances to stop campers.
While traipsing through images of certain buildings i had came up with something (Drawn on paper) that resembles a mixture/merge of the buildings below..

 

.. and while you won’t see that building for quite some time, i expect it to be a reasonably sized building which may dwarf the small town that resides near it. I had also thought about posting the drawings, but then of course, that would spoil the surprise so you’re just going to have to wait! 😀

In the meantime though, lets leave you with a screenshot or 2 of the map in it’s current state..

Remember guys, we’re all in quarantine essentially, so now might be a good time for you  to learn to map too! 😀

Nothing much to..

Hey guys, nothing much to write about at the moment, so thought i’d give you guys a quick screenshot as a consolation prize 😀

I also know what my next map will be when this one is done! for my american and canadian friends out there i can simply just say ‘undergrads cartoon’ and all will hopefully be clear. for everyone else, provided you hadn’t done it already by the time you got here, google ‘undergrads cartoon’ .. its a great program i used to watch when i wasn’t so old and they are bringing out a movie within the next few years too, which is awesome… oh yeah..

Out of the houses i made..

So we’ve got to the point where i really need to decide on the houses for the village, knowing how the village will look would determine its layout.. brick houses may have a more uniformed placing as opposed to shacks in the wilderness where such a thing wouldnt be an eye-sore for the residents.

I have made four different houses of which you will see in the video, and the two that i like are the Lean-to rooved wooden house and the shack at the end. but lets have a look at the horrible things i made anyway just so you can see for yourselves 😀

Starting work on the village..

In this map the ways up would be exposed, so as well as the main building that will be created, i am also adding in a small village which will provide people with lots of cover while making their way out (or into) the sewer system. I am in the process of deciding how i want the small houses to look at base form, meaning without awnings or porches etc, and the first iteration is below..

A sneaky little video..

Hey guys, with all the nice stuff going on in the world i thought i would post up a sneaky little video for people to have a look of.
There are only a few Decals at the moment and this is purely for navigational purposes, making sure that each turn had a different graffiti cos i’m nice like that. You can also see the 4 upways out of the sewers but i am thinking of creating a fifth one.

Sewers are close..

The sewer section of the new map is very near completion. I want to place props, but before that I need to place markers to help people get out easier on their first few times playing the map, and to do this I’ll need to have those exitways done.
In the screenshot below you can see that i have already started on one of the staircases leading out up to the ground floor, just before this i’d recently sealed the map in the right places and tested for leaks and all was good!

Now the screenshot isn’t the best as there is only 2 textures and it’s taken from far away to show you it in its entirety, but at least ‘hide nodraw textures’ was turned on so you could actually see the map! 😀

So the first part is … [so clickbait lol ]

So the first part is shaping up nicely. It is also the lowest part of the map. As you can hopefully see it will be a primitive sewers system, of which SHOULD lead up to more than 3 different buildings.

If you look closely you can see a single Rebel hinting at their start area, hey sometimes you gotta start in the sh.. melly stuff!
